Homelessness in women aged 55 years and over is the highest statistic of homelessness not only in the Whitsundays - but in the entire country of Australia. Perhaps you haven’t seen them sleeping rough because they are a hidden statistic.

Why

Homelessness in the age group of 55 years and over is the highest statistic not only here in our area but Australia wide. They are often sleeping in their cars, in parks and often go under the radar by couching surfing. These women may be mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters or friends. The only way we will achieve fundraising success is by sharing their plight and teaming up with other responsible caring people.

Who

The Tiny homes Project has been set-up by an amazing bunch of passionate volunteers to raise much needed funds to build Tiny Homes on a dedicated plot of land. This project was launched in October 2022 to fundraise on behalf of Whitsunday Housing Company Limited to help house women 55 years and over who are homeless and struggling living right here in the Whitsundays community. This group of volunteers teamed up and took on the pilot project to initially build 4 tiny Homes on the land donated by The Whitsunday Council in Proserpine.

How

We need you help to raise money. We see this problem intensifying and not going away. Something has to be done. The more funds we can raise, the faster these women will have a roof over their heads and reclaim their dignity.
